Remote Education Provision
At Vicarage Primary School, we use Google Classroom to offer remote learning. Last year, at the onset of the first lockdown, we launched Google Classroom across the school and we were very proud of how quickly our staff, pupils and families adapted to teaching and learning through this online platform.
In order to ensure that learning is continued in the current situation where Covid-19 is still prevalent, Vicarage School has updated its remote learning plan for the academic year 2021-22. This plan offers high quality and broad remote learning opportunities with a mix of online and offline resources. As there is no longer a requirement for children to self-isolate if they are identified as a contact, the plan is primarily in place to provide remote learning for pupils who are self-isolating due to a positive test but are well enough to complete learning at home.
If the child is unwell with symptoms consistent with Covid-19, parents should inform the office immediately and work will not be provided. As with all illnesses, the child should rest and make a full recovery before they resume their learning.
If a child has to self-isolate due to testing positive for Covid-19, but is asymptomatic or has recovered from symptoms, parents should get in touch with the school office to request remote learning provision. Pupils will be provided with a Home Learning Pack which can also be accessed on Google Classroom, as well as the other online learning platforms that they are familiar with. Whilst remote learning children should also complete 30 minutes daily reading and this should be recorded in their diary.
If your child needs to complete remote learning and you do not have a device which can be used to access the work, please contact the school so that we can provide a school Chromebook for the duration of the remote learning period.
Whole Class, Whole Cohort Self Isolation or Partial School Closure
In the rare case that Public Health England advises the school that a whole class or year group should self-isolate, remote learning will take place via Google Classroom.
Our whole class remote learning offer involves live teaching with work set after each session for children to complete independently and submit online to be marked. During independent work, teachers will monitor the Classroom to offer support and respond to queries as required, and will offer short feedback or guidance on all submitted work received by the due date.
